Position Description – Senior Accountant
The Senior Accountant’s primary responsibility is participating in the monthly close process and the production of monthly financial information.
The primary responsibilities include performing account reconciliations, posting journal entries, and performing initial analysis of financial data before submission to Theatres’ Accounting leadership.
As the group is tasked with complete and accurate GAAP reporting for a division of an SEC filer, the ideal candidate will have some combination of public accounting experience with a large or mid-sized firm and/or experience with another public company or large private company.
The right individual for this role must enjoy working in a fast paced and deadline oriented environment where accuracy is a must.
Essential Functions/Job Duties: · Analyze information to prepare and enter journal entries into the Financial System; · Reconcile Balance Sheet Accounts; · Actively participate in the period close process by performing reviews of financial statements and collaborating within the team along with other departments in the theatre division; · Analyze information to prepare and enter more complex journal entries into the financial system; · Prepare and/or review balance sheet account reconciliations; · Prepare and/or review sales and use tax returns; · Analyze current processes and pursue efficiencies that promote process improvements; · Exhibit leadership, resourcefulness, and ability to solve problems independently; · Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures; · Perform other duties and special projects as assigned; *The above list reflects the general details necessary to describe the principal and essential functions of the position and shall not be construed as the only duties that may be assigned for the position.
Job Requirements: Minimum three years of relevant experience in a large to mid-size public accounting firm, complex large company, or some combination; · Possess strong analytical skills, comprehension of accounting processes and technical accounting topics, and the ability to communicate the results of analysis performed; · Possess strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; · Ability to effectively work both autonomously and collaboratively; · Possess a desire to learn new skills, tasks, and software systems to meet the changing demands of the industry; · Able to manage and complete multiple tasks; · Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines, while maintaining organization and attention to detail; · Ability to maintain confidentiality; · Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including, advanced proficiency working in Microsoft Excel; · Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial System is desired but not required; Education Required: Bachelor’s (or advanced) Degree in Accounting; CPA or equivalent experience; Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and/or hear, and/or use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls.
The employee is required to stand, and/or walk occasionally.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
