The Staff Auditor will assist in for-profit, not for profit, governmental, and ERISA audits, as well as reviews and compilations.
You will perform significant audit and other assurance engagements for our clients, build relationships, and assure continued close personal attention to their needs.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Perform a variety of tasks as part of the assurance team, including audit and review procedures, and working on special projects in accordance with professional standards under the direction of senior assurance staff.
Become proficient with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and in applying GAAP to client engagements
Prepare draft financial statements and client communications and reports
Examines assigned financial records and statements for accuracy
Analyzes financial data, making recommendations as appropriate to improve accuracy, efficiency, and to reduce costs
Communicate with team members and engagement leaders during engagements regarding engagement status, identified issues, and problem areas
Inspect the budget and general ledger for assigned departments and accounts, ensuring that funds are available, and expenditures are assigned correctly
Reviews and/or assists with preparation of financial statements and records provided to federal, state, and internal auditors and similar personnel
As needed, assists with accounting duties for and corrections to listed financial records
As appropriate, identifies and recommends updates to accounting systems and procedures
Assists as needed with preparation of annual financial reports
Proactively interact and communicate with clients to gather information to ensure timely engagement wrap-up
Continue to enhance abilities through continuing professional education
Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
Basic knowledge of accounting principles
Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
Ability to learn and adapt to various software packages
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in accounting
Current CPA or CPA candidate intending to sit for the CPA exam is preferred
At least two years of related experience required
