Job Description ITW Welding continues to build its capabilities in software development as a core competency in digitally controlled welding equipment, processes, and systems.
To support this effort, we are seeking an experienced and innovative embedded software security engineer for product security.
This engineer will be a key driver in further securing the software in our products.
This position will require a highly motivated individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with engineering teams, marketing, and product management as well as external security consultants to improve the security of our existing solutions and work with software technology managers to ensure a secure software development framework is applied to new product development activities.
The right candidate will bring a foundation of embedded software experience, a keen awareness of secure software development frameworks and practices, an up-to-date awareness of embedded software security considerations, and a proven record of impacting process change while working with teams as a contributor and collaborator.
What You'll Get To Do: Primary responsibilities include leading the integration of a formalized, sustainable, secure software development process for embedded systems including steps such as security assessments, threat modelling, risk assessment, mitigation identification, mitigation verification, and vulnerability and incident management.
Stay updated with emerging security trends, tools, and technologies to ensure best practices are being employed.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (including software development, software verification, power electronics, and welding), project managers, and product managers to specify, design, develop, and support new product initiatives.
Assist in the design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of embedded software for various hardware platforms to support new product development initiatives and existing products.
Create efficient, reliable, and maintainable C/C++ code within divisional products and centralized software libraries.
Participate in code, design, and architecture reviews leveraging your security expertise to guide the team towards solutions which minimize business risk.
Perform security audits and penetration testing to identify and address vulnerabilities in welding solutions.
Lead development teams through the threat modelling and risk assessment process.
Perform vulnerability assessments of third-party software libraries used in the development of welding products.
Stay updated with the threat landscape relevant to the technology within our products (e.
g.
OWASP Top 10 list, MITRE).
Manage external security consultants and internal resources as necessary to meet the demand for security testing and expertise in the development of new welding products.
Prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and effectively Qualifications What We Need From You: Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, or related field (e.

Information Security, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, etc.
) with a minimum of 4 years of industry security experience Knowledge and experience in embedded systems development and security in alignment with the essential job functions above Strong knowledge of secure software coding practices and methodologies Familiarity with security standards and protocols (e.
