Middle School Music Teacher

Bachelor’s degree in Education.
Licensed to teach in the state of WI.
Prior experience as a Teacher (highly recommended).
Capacity to supervise group work.
Outstanding planning, conflict resolution techniques, problem-solving skills.
Assess student projects with their skill level and style in mind.
Excellent organization, time management, and follow up skills, demonstrating ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
A strong sense of urgency, prioritizing student experience and outcomes.
Strong sense of team and ability to work with and on a team to invest team members and drive outcomes.
Charter school experience in an urban setting.
Prolonged periods of mobility through a large campus, and at times prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.
) most of the workday.
The job may require occasional evening or weekend hours for family engagement events and meetings.

Curriculum Planning & Instructional Delivery Develop and implement a comprehensive and standards-aligned music curriculum that covers various musical genres, theory, history, and performance.
Create engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans that cater to diverse musical interests and abilities.
Deliver dynamic and interactive music lessons using a variety of teaching methods, including practical exercises, music technology, and traditional instruction.
Instruct students in vocal and instrumental techniques, music notation, and ensemble performance.
Ensemble Direction Direct and oversee high school musical ensembles such as choirs, orchestras, bands, or jazz bands.
Plan and coordinate rehearsals, performances, and other musical events.
Individualized Support Provide individualized support to students, offering guidance and feedback on their musical development.
Offer additional assistance to students who may need extra support in mastering musical concepts.
Assessment and Evaluation Develop and implement assessments to measure student progress in musical skills, understanding, and performance.
Provide constructive feedback on individual and ensemble performances.
Music Theory and History Teach music theory and history to enhance students' understanding of the cultural and theoretical aspects of music.
Incorporate both classical and contemporary musical styles into the curriculum.
Classroom Management Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that encourages musical exploration and collaboration.
Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a focused and productive learning atmosphere.
Technology Integration Integrate technology into music instruction, incorporating music software, digital recording tools, and multimedia resources.
Enhance students' technological literacy in relation to music.
Concerts and Performances Organize and direct concerts, recitals, and other performances to showcase students' musical talents.
Collaborate with other school departments for interdisciplinary performances.
Community Engagement Collaborate with other educators, parents, and the local community to promote the importance of music education.
Organize or participate in community music events, workshops, or partnerships.
Professional Development Stay informed about current trends in music education, instructional strategies, and advancements in music technology.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and musical knowledge.
Record Keeping Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and other relevant information.
Document and organize lesson plans, assessments, and recordings of performances.
