SUMMARY
The Production Supervisor is responsible and accountable for leading the operations of one or more of the product line manufacturing departments and/or support departments like material handling or receiving/shipping for a single shift.
This is a high impact position that requires an individual with strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
This position will be responsible for supervising the production and/or product movement activities daily.
Utilizing lean principles, this position will plan, direct, and coordinate all activities to maximize productivity, and deliver a quality product on-time and in a cost-effective manner for the assigned departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises daily operator and technician activities.
Coordinates production activities to establish priorities and sequences for manufacturing of products to achieve delivery targets.
Develops, evaluates, recommends, and improves manufacturing methods using lean tools & principals.
Sets and leads performance targets for direct reports.
Oversees and frequently performs quality inspections.
Analyzes schedules and plans work force utilization for maximum efficiency.
Manages employee development, coordinates training on machines.
Ensures new employees have a positive onboarding experience along with assigning a mentor to support training.
Confers with others in the organization regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
Leads the efforts troubleshooting and set-up of equipment, tooling and/or processes in need.
Ensures scheduling of preventive maintenance is performed and recorded in a timely manner.
Supports the maintenance and replacement of perishable tooling.
Supports other manufacturing activities as required.
Ensures compliance with all safety, work rules, housekeeping and other regulations.
Works in accordance with Tanis mission, vision, & values always.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE • Associates degree in a technical area required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Requires 5 to 7 years of combined manufacturing, maintenance, or machinist, preferably in a job shop • Brush manufacturing experience is preferred and can be substituted for the educational requirements.
• Requires mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
• Must be able to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and routings.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILIITIES Supervises various hourly positions on manufacturing floor.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Tanis' policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include training employees; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Activities are performed on a routine basis using personal protective equipment (PPE) such as glasses, shoes, and earplugs.
At times, face shields, aprons, suits, and other PPE may be required.
Frequent: -Seeing -Hearing -Standing, walking, or mobility for long periods of time -Climbing, stooping or kneeling -Lifting, pulling, or pushing up to 50 pounds without assistance -Fingering, grasping, feeling, typing Employee will operate various hand tools, power hand tools and machine tools such as lathes, drill, welders, CNC machines and presses.
